Community Pantry

Updated: May 21, 2021

The whole month of April was basically a rest. It was not only for me and Jean(my wife), but was an ARREST for the whole family. All of us (five (5) in the family), were tested positive of Covid-19. We were on voluntary quarantine and had to stay for days in our home. It was devastating in a sense that Covid-19 attempted to blur the future of everyone of us. It tried to still our lives away from God! FEAR influenced ourselves for sometimes, specially when I try to think myself of how to solve that challenge of Covid-19. However, the promise of God through His word during my 51st birthday came to mind:

"I the Lord your God, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of

your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people

and a light to the Gentiles,..." (Isaiah 42:6)

The assurance that he 'Called' me... 'I will take hold of your hand.'.. 'I will keep you and will make you...' gave me the assurance that He took notice of our situation last April, that He will not leave us defeated because He was going to save us from Covid-19. In other words it is God who initiated 'in' us to keep us going!

In Psalm 37: 18-19 He has also spoken;

"The blameless spend their days under the Lord's care and their inheritance

will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; In days of famine

they will enjoy plenty." (Psalm 37:18-19)

More assurances for the blameless(in Christ) : The 'Lord's care is His commitment, so as with the endurance of our inheritance(he will stay with us). Disaster(Covid-19) can not destroy(wither) us...and while the world is in famine, the blameless(in Christ), has "plenty." We can surely have our fill and even be able to give food for others.

More than a month had passed by after our health challenge, and here we are standing on our feet and praising the God of heavens! Amen!!!

After our health challenge, Jean and I immediately got back where we dropped off and starting back to help the couples and families that we used to be in contact with.

Upon learning that those couples whom we reached out through friendships and premarital orientation and counseling, were in difficulties, we (Jean and I)

The help was comparably small, but they were thankful. They realized that we remembered them in their distress. We already have done three(3) deliveries on three Sundays. The latest visit we had was remarkable because we have suggested to have a bible discussion with them which they agreed willingly and unanimously! The fourth pantry delivery would be more exciting because we will be sharing to them not only food for the body but food for the soul.

Please pray for us! The need is urgent. Pray also that those who lost their jobs, can find new jobs and can recover from this Pandemic onslaught. Pray for the children. They are too young to understand and to adjust what is happening in our world, in their community and in their homes. Pray for us, that as the bringer of hope to the disillusioned families, the Lord will use us mightily!

A fundraising drive is on-going by the Family Ministry which Jean and I have headed. We are challenging friends and church for funds to buy rice to the community. So far, around seven (7) sacks is collected. Filipinos would rather have rice in the table more than any other food.

We would like to thank you for your continuous partnership. You are doing your part well in sending your funds and in prayers! May the Lord continue to bless you!
