STORIES FROM VOLUNTEERS

"On a feeding at tent city in Manila today, the thought came to me when I met these kids: 'Happiness lays in who we are, not what we have.'"

Jamie Mellor / Group of Friends / 2015

"Since only being here a week out of a total of three months serving at KIDS, I’ve already seen the fruit that bears from the feedings. Seeing the children's' faces light up when they see us and how they truly listen and learn about the Lord who will always provide for us and never fail us, then seeing them shove down the food that they just blessed in Jesus’ name, it's actually remarkable."

Catherine Webb / World Race Gap Year / 2018

“For feedings we would drive through the neighborhood yelling 'Lugaw lebre' [translates to free porridge]!! The children would come running with containers of all different shapes and sizes. Then once everyone was served we would play Chinese jump rope and sing the infamous Frozen song!”

Kylie Bowen / World Race / 2015

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

Nourishing the body and the spirit!

We couldn't do what we do as a ministry without the help of others. As a ministry that is actively feeding the hungry children in some of the most impoverished parts of Manila, we are able to do so with the help of lots of hands, some of those belonging to our amazing cooks. The women that prepare the meals, prepare them each morning, 2 hours prior to the feeding time. Providing healthy, hot meals daily for the children of neighboring communities near and far.

When we arrive at the different villages we hold feedings at, our teams typically begin with a bible lesson, songs, games, and/or some kind of hands on activity that enhance the children's understanding of God.  All of this not only allows us to nourish their physical bodies, but also their lives.
