My Life in the Philippines

Updated: Jun 1, 2021

Welcome to my blog! So I've now been in the Philippines a little over 4 months now. I honestly can't believe it's only been 4 months. It feels like I've lived for a very long time. Sorry, I'm just now updating everyone on my time here in the Philippines so far. So here you go. My time here started with a ministry Christmas Party. Parties in the Philippines usually have a theme so our Christmas party was 70s and 80s theme. Everyone dressed in their best 70s and 80s outfits.

I want to start of by talking about the two main ministries that I'm involved in and then split those up into more details. So one of the things that I'm doing here is volunteering as a missionary teacher at Faith Academy. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English this year. It has been really difficult to be honest. Having 3 different levels of English is hard in itself, but doing 3 different grades online is even harder. Do to Covid-19 Faith Academy has been all online. The positive is that I have been able to really connect with different staff at Faith Academy and strengthen previous friendships from when I was here before. I'm learning {slowly ;)} how to teach online.

I've also really been involved with Kids International Ministries as well. When I said yes to coming back to the Philippines, I told God that not only did I want to teach, but I really wanted to be involved in ministry. Boy have I been involved. The main thing I've been involved in is Youth Lab (our Youth ministry through KIM). I co-lead the middle school group also known as YL Juniors! I absolutely love it!! God has really been pulling me outside of my comfort zone with this. If you know me, I like to be a behind the scenes kind of girl! However, God hasn't let me do that all the time. I shared the message for the first time at YL Juniors. I got to talk to 11-14 year old children about how God knew them before they were born and He still chose them, and is still choosing them today. I also shared with them that God made us all unique with a common purpose; to glorify Him in everything we say and do. The crazy part is that God spoke to me through my own message in the fact that I don't need to compare myself to others. I need to just be me and the person that God is uniquely creating me to be.

I've also gotten to help with a small camp and help baptize young people (I've never gotten to help with a baptism before). Another thing I've gotten to do is lead a connection group (we call them belong groups).

I've really enjoyed the family, friends, and connections that God has put in my life so far. I'm so excited to see exactly what God has in store for me.

Please be praying for us. With Covid-19, we've been limited in what we can do with our ministry. Please be praying that we will be able to still do ministry in a way that is glorifying to God and can bring young people in the community to Christ. Also, please continue praying that I will be able to get more monthly support. I'm at 80% on my monthly support and would really like to be at 100% in case of any emergencies. Thank you so much for your support through prayer and financial giving. I love you all and God Bless!!
