Go, Grow, Glow—July was all about nutrition and how to maintain a health body, healthy spirit, and healthy environment.
The month started with Grades 5-6 and Grades 7-10 tilling up garden plots on the newly purchased lot for CCS high school. The students planted okra, mustasa, petchay, mustard and kangkong. It was a great learning experience.
Staying fit was put into action with Zumba sessions most mornings at the high school. The students really got into it, amazing their teachers by how quickly they learned the steps.
The culminating program at the end of the month displayed the students’ talents and creativity in various contests: fruit salad making (grades K-2), vegetable salad making (grades 3-4), murals (grades 5-6), and poster and slogan making (grades 7-10). The high school teams also composed and performed in song and dance their own raps based on the month’s theme. Even the high school parents got involved with a cooking contest.

Winning poster and slogan translated to English: Take care of your health and start planting vegetables to have a healthy lifestyle.
Our guest speaker, Ms. Vangie D. Rosaldo, encouraged the students to make good choices about what they eat with this easy-to-remember slogan—Go, Grow, Glow: Go (energy-giving foods like carbohydrates), Grow (foods rich in protein), and Glow (fruits and vegetables). She also shared with the students how a healthy body, a healthy spirit, and a healthy environment make a healthy you.
