Bringing good cheer! December …What a joy-filled month at CCS! Creative Christmas decor, Family Day, Class Christmas parties, and unique Christmas boxes for each of our 488 students lovingly filled by a local church. It’s been an amazing three weeks, celebrating the birth of our Savior. Christmas Lanterns: In their art classes, students made “parols” (Christmas lanterns) using recycled materials. Indeed, we have a lot of creative minds! Family Day: Our school has grown such that we now have an Elementary Family Day and a Junior High School Family Day. The students prepared songs and dances for their families, and parents joined in games of volleyball, basketball and a host of fun competitions. So many smiles! Filipinos definitely know how to have a good time! Class Christmas Parties: Teachers, parents, and even students joined efforts to make each classroom party a memorable time of games, songs and of course food! But to top off the time was the giving of Christmas shoe boxes prepared individually for each student by name by a local church. They blessed our students with boxes of gifts carefully and lovingly prepared by people we do not know. The love was greatly felt by our students. We are just so grateful, Union Church of Manila! Visiting Teams: Junior high students from International School Manila led fun activities at our elementary site and even helped with some dirt work in helping clear the area for our new high school. Thank you, ISM, for your friendship and the teaching supplies! Also this month, a team of nurses from Seattle Pacific University helped teach in classrooms as well as provide First Aid training for our elementary teachers. They were a tremendous help and encouragement. Thank you, SPU! Christmas Cheer: Another highlight was having Intern Lydia Lei from Biola University spend the last two months teaching high school math to our students. Lydia (2nd from left middle row) joins here our high school teachers in singing “Carol of the Bells.” From our hearts to yours, we at CCS wish you all a Merry Merry Merry Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
